Senlis makes its cinema

Tournage du film "Séraphine" - © Mairie de Senlis

Senlis, 2000 years of architecture and history, is well known by the cineastes, who have utilised for a long time (since 1935) the natural setting, close to the Parisian studios.

Medieval little streets, places of interest, historical monuments and the particular hotels, are requisitioned for many film shootings.

More than a hundred films have been turned (partly or totally) in a sauvegarded sector like the films (you can upload the list at the bottom of this page) :

- « Cartouche » (1961) with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Claudia Cardinal
- « Angélique et le Roy » (1965) with Michèle Mercier and Jean Rochefort
- « Le Roi de cœur » (1966) with Michel Serrault and Jean-Claude Brialy
- « Peau d’âne » (1970) avec Catherine Deneuve, Jean Marais et Jacques Perrin
- « L’aile ou la cuisse » (1976) with Louis de Funés  and Coluche
- « L’Avare » (1980) with Louis de Funés and Michel Galabru
- « Papy fait de la Résistance » (1983) with Christian Clavier, Michel Blanc…
- « La reine Margot » (1994) with Isabelle Adjani and Daniel Auteuil
- « Le Comte de Montécristo » (1997) with Gérard Depardieu
- « Arsène Lupin » (2003) with Kristin Scott-Thomas
- « L’autre Dumas » (2010) with Gérard Depardieu and Benoît Poelvoorde

The film « Seraphine », with 7 Caesars, came out in France on 1st October 2008 and brilliantly interpreted by Yolande Moreau and Ulrich Tukur. Since 2008, the tourist office of Senlis organises guided visits in french « Sur les pas de Séraphine » on every last saturday of the month at 3pm, from april to october.

And probably many others in the future...
