Senlis, 2000 years of Architecture and History, is at the heart of Natural Regional Park of History in the Oise. Senlis presents in the heart of the forests an exceptional architectural and cultural heritage. Its 40 ha preserved area is especially valued by film-directors.

The museums of Senlis

Located in the historical heart of Senlis, three museums, labelled « Museum of France », with large and original collections, present the archaeology, architecture, history and local traditions of the royal city and its surroundings : paintings and Gallo-Roman vestiges at the museum of Art and Archaeology, military traditions at the Spahi museum and the art of hunting at the Hunting museum.

Séraphine Louis, said to be « of Senlis ».

The film « Seraphine », with 7 Caesars, came out in France on 1st October 2008 and brilliantly interpreted by Yolande Moreau and Ulrich Tukur. Film-lovers have discovered an original and attaching artist-painter with a « naive » painting style.

Senlis makes its cinema

Senlis, 2000 years of architecture and history, is well known by the cineastes, who have utilised for a long time (since 1935) the natural setting, close to the Parisian studios.
